Community Connections
In 2000, a group of community workers identified the need to empower Community Based Organisations (CBOs). Even though CBOs were doing tremendous work, they often struggled with aspects of governance, management and leadership and for this reason found it difficult to attract funding. We conducted a pilot project, which provided training and mentoring to 20 CBOs and Community Connections was subsequently constituted as an NGO.

In South Africa 274 Children die of HIV / AIDS every day! The number of children, under the age of 15, living with HIV is estimated between 230 000 and 300 000!(Dept of Health / Medical Research Council). ThembaCare Athlone was the first palliative care centre to open its doors in March 2002. It remains one of very few dedicated palliative care centres for babies and children who have AIDS.
